ECONOMIST/PLANNER/ANALYST – Starting Salary:  Mid-$60’s DOE/DOQ

The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC) is seeking a candidate for the position of Economist/Planner/Analyst to perform professional work in the collection and analysis of socio-economic data.  This position is responsible for preparing analytical reports and findings to aid decision-makers on issues of regional importance.  The Economist/Planner/Analyst will monitor forecasts of regional population, housing, and economic trends and apply advanced modeling tools and analytical methods to real-world applications in a region with a variety of social, environmental, and economic challenges and opportunities.  Qualified applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Employment Opportunities at the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO)

 

DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – Starting Salary $130,000

The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) is seeking a highly qualified professional for the position of Deputy Executive Director.  The successful candidate will guide and supervise the activities of professional staff in a regional planning office in the areas of transportation planning and engineering.  The position requires significant public sector knowledge with demonstrated knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of transportation planning and analysis as well as strong consensus building, personnel and budget management skills.  The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of federal and state transportation planning and programming requirements.  The Deputy Executive Director assists the Executive Director in providing strategic and dynamic leadership and management for the agency’s transportation planning activities and oversees the integration of policy, funding, innovation and operational elements of the HRTPO’s work.  Qualified applicants must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.

Transportation Engineer - Starting Salary Mid-$50’s.

The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) is seeking a candidate for an entry level Transportation Engineer.  This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a transportation focus; Master’s degree desirable.  The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of transportation planning and analysis.   The HRTPO serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Hampton Roads region of Virginia and serves over 1.7 million people in 15 jurisdictions.

INTERNSHIP – Transportation Engineer/Planner - $12.50 per hour

The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) is seeking a Transportation Engineer/Planner Intern to provide technical support to professional transportation engineers by assisting with a variety of projects that support the mission and goals of the HRTPO.  The goal of the internship is to provide meaningful work experience to a college student pursuing a degree in civil engineering (transportation focus) or transportation planning and introduce them to public service careers as they prepare to enter the workforce.
